Judging by the excessive amount of times that I’ve played Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” this month, the countdown to Christmas has begun! If you made it onto the “nice” list this year, it’s time to set your sights on some animal-friendly goodies to go under the tree.
My personal philosophy is that the best way to spread holiday cheer is with cookies! The new Skinny Bitch Bakery vegan cookbook has more than 80 recipes so you can keep the Christmas magic flowing well past Valentine’s Day.
No holiday party is complete without an ugly sweater, and our friends at No Sleep Records might have the ugliest! This vegan-friendly crew neck is just the right combination of ugly and festive, and it doesn’t contain any of the animal products, such as wool or angora, that can make winter wear truly horrific.
Never underestimate the power of good nail polish. Nails are the perfect way to complete any party look, and companies such as Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics offer stunning colors that are 100 percent vegan (no animal by-products) and cruelty-free (not tested on animals!).
Be sure to keep those newly manicured hands warm with animal-friendly mittens! And nothing beats a hat/mitten combo in the winter, so you should probably add peta2′s “Animal” Beanie to the list while you’re at it.
Have you taken the first step? Whether you’re a vegan pro or new to the cruelty-free game, the peta2 x Macbeth Gatsby needs to be in your wardrobe! There is no excuse for wearing animal skins—and that includes leather. Kick off the new year in style with a pair of peta2-approved kicks.
Candy! What kid doesn’t want to overindulge on sweets on Christmas morning? And with so many “accidentally vegan” treats available at Target, 7-Eleven, Walmart, and more, it’s easier than ever for mom and dad to stuff those stockings.
Need to keep track of loose change and gift cards? Pick up a faux-leather wallet and/or kitty coin purse! Cruelty-free fashion tip: Cat-shaped accessories never go out of style.
Feel free to e-mail this list to your parents, or print it out and place it casually in their line of sight for a not-so-subtle Xmas hint. If all else fails, join the peta2 Street Team (which you should do anyway!) to earn and redeem points for exclusive peta2 merch!
